  • About

Will Embliss has been making tuned percussion since learning the balafon on a 6-month trip to Senegal in the 80s.

Will makes instruments for schools, families, playgrounds, woodlands and notably for Dame Evelyn Glennie. http://www.willembliss.co.uk/?... He also makes interactive sound sculptures and installations. Will mostly tunes to the pentatonic, but diatonic or chromatic scales are available on request.

A specialist in making tuned percussion instruments, like xylophones, which are upcycled using found wood, metals and plastic. These robust instruments are really easy to make a nice sound on, so can be therapeutic and fun for all.

He has undertaken school residencies making playground instruments at Druk White Lotus School in Ladakh (India) http://www.willembliss.co.uk/?... and at Multikids Inclusive Academy in Accra (Ghana) http://www.willembliss.co.uk/?... , as well as working in London schools.

He offers workshops to local primary schools in Science of Sound http://www.willembliss.co.uk/?... , Musical Instrument Making http://www.willembliss.co.uk/?... and the Scrapheap Musical Challenge http://www.willembliss.co.uk/?...
