I started painting and crafting in a year of being housebound with chronic illness, making things which help me feel connected to my neighbourhood and local community. My work is inspired by the wild spaces of Tottenham which I miss walking in, and celebrates the beautiful birds of the marshes and wetlands. Before becoming ill with CFS/ME, I was writing short stories and releasing music. When I found myself no longer able to write or perform due to my illness, it was very difficult for me not being able to express myself as a creative person. My mum had the idea then of buying me some felt tips. I had not drawn since I was a child and wasn't interested at first but I soon discovered a love of decorative arts. Just a few months later I opened an Etsy shop, with the support of friends and family. My cards and wrapping paper quickly proved popular. I am now working mainly in gouache but also have a collaborator who is producing my designs in ceramic. I feel this is just the beginning.
