Dast&Hand is an early stage community project that is trying to connect people through making garments. The project started in 2021 after the Taliban came back into power in Afghanistan. In response to the still ongoing events we created a collection of garments.
Our collection is made from 100% up-cycled materials from our BA collections and home-dyed in our garden. The garments are an exploration of serendipitous shapes and colours. Each piece is hand-embroidered by Afghan women in East London. The full proceeds of our project are going towards Durkhanum Sewing Circle, a project helping women in Kabul, Afghanistan to become tailors and find financial stability through this work.
Through this collection we are hoping to start a community merging different people through craft and creativity.
