  • About

I am a Japanese textiles designer and teacher working with Shibori (resist dyeing), Katagami stencilling, Sashiko and Kogin embroidery, and Boro inspired mending. I mainly use indigo dye but some plant and silk dyes in my work.

I originally learned Shibori at West Dean College in 2011 and then, following further Shibori courses as West Dean, went to study with indigo guru, Bryan Whitehead, in Japan in 2014. I returned to Japan in 2018 and 2019 to expand my Shibori and Katagami skills with Bryan.

I am a regular exhibitor with MADE in London and Brighton and at Handmade in Highgate.

You may have seen my Sashiko and Boro mended pieces on the semi-final of The Great British Sewing Bee in 2022!
